Easy to Use

Want to save time searching?  One way experts do that is by turning their questions into answers BEFORE they search.

• Here's how to do that using the question, “on average how far is the earth from mars?”

• Try imagining some terms that might appear in the answer but not the question.

• A typical answer to a question of “how far” might include “distance” and some unit of measure like “miles”

• "The average distance from earth to mars is __ miles" The part you don't know is the blank space.

• The top return in Google to a query like average distance earth mars miles is a page that contains the answer. (This is not the case if only the words in the original question are used.)

• It's impossible to predict all the words in an answer, but this exercise helps reveal some important terms that do not appear in the question. And, this approach reduces the likelihood of overlooking important search concepts!

Try it: Turn these questions into answers to reveal additional search words!

1. What is the speed of earth's fastest animal?

2. How many countries are home to more than 100 million people?
